Up until yesterday we were staying at a friend of D's about 40 minutes drive from the city. I'm very thankful D found a place for us close to the city; I really couldn't do that commute all of the time, but it was a nice little 'holiday house'. Close-by was a VERY Aussie pub, the typical kind you would see on TV, and as we went out the back to slurp our beers we found a few Aussie friends!

We moved into our unfurnished apartment yesterday which is in Shenton Park, a leafy suburb next to Kings Park (Perths largest park) and Subiaco (one of Perths best suburbs). Our apartment is small, one half is the living room and kitchen and the bedroom and ensuite are in the 2nd half and it's on the ground floor and has a green, treed yard out the back. I will take a few photos of our apartment once it's furnished and decorated! Our car is having some trouble and is now in the shop waiting for a new transmission and timing belt. It should be fixed by next week.
We have a futon coming today (yay!) and I ordered a small fridge which arrives tomorrow (only the stove comes with rentals in Australia!).We've been to the beach a few times and the water is quite spectacular. Here is a photo of some kite boarders at Cottesloe beach.

hi nana jo,
d here. yes blue hornet would be appropriate or perhaps blue ferocious monster given the amount of work that needs doing... anyway it should be back soon. (i am sure not naming it lead to this fiasco!) however, i can think of plenty of names for the guy who sold it to me!
