Street Shopping

I have a new obsession - street shopping! Since D and I moved in to our new unit, we have been keeping our eyes peeled on the grassy nature strips of Perth for throw-away goodies. We have had some great luck so far!

The day we moved in we adopted the former sofa and bean bag chair from the last tenant of our unit. She left it on the front lawn for garbage pick-up; it's white and from Ikea. A little scrub and it's almost good-as-new! Savings = $250-400.

On another drive-by we found a small bedside table, it's a bit old but cute as a button. Savings = $50.
Last week, on the streets in North Perth, we found an old 1970's Hoover vacuum cleaner, yellow, just like one my mom used to have; to our shock and amazement it actually works! Savings = $250.

This past weekend, after a few hours of unsuccessful shopping in some second hand shops, we found a white bookcase, in perfect condition, on the side of the road. Savings = $70.

We found a wardrobe rack the other day but we couldn't fit it in the car, but, lucky for us, as we were failing to maneuver it in, the woman who owned the property came out and offered us another bean bag chair she was throwing away. Savings = $50.

It may sound like we're destitute but really we're just enjoying finding new old street treasures!
