Mama and I visited the Taronga Zoo yesterday (pics to come). It is situated across the Sydney Harbour, accessible by boat or bus. Seeing as we paid for our ferry/bus/train pass earlier in the week, we decided to take the trip over and back by ferry. Two ferries and one hour later we landed at the zoo.
We were pleasantly surprised by the zoo, it's gorgeous views of the harbour and the many varieties of interesting animals to see. However, we were not pleasantly surprised by the price to get in, $37, and the $3 charge for a map, which, out of principle I refused to buy.
My mum had her first look at koalas and kangaroos (though because we were map-less it took us a while to find the latter :), giraffes, a tree kangaroo, a hippo, snow leopard, lions, gorillas, mountain goats, bears and many more - all-in-all a great zoo to see.
Our way back to Darling Harbour was another story, but, two ferries and three hours later we made it. Ergh.
